With reference to Your Lordship's Circular Despatch of the 26th of February on the subject of the desirability of putting Veterinary matters in certain of the Crown Colonies and Protectorates on a better footing, I have the honour to state that this Colony has already in its employment a well-qualified Veterinary Surgeon who has a knowledge of serum therapeutics besides two Bacteriologists who frequently assist in the investigation of diseases of animals.

2. In any future appointment however of a Veterinary Surgeon for Hongkong, I recognise the desirability of securing an Officer who has undergone the special post-graduate training indicated in paragraphs 8 and 9 of Your Lordship's Despatch under reference, and this desideratum will be placed on record.
